The Queen on a visit to Kerriemuir 2004

This year the Queen visited Arbroath, Forfar and Kerriemuier in Scotland along with her many other engagements throughout her visit. In Arbroath the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh met the families of servicemen serving in the Gulf.

From Arbroath the Queen made a visit to Forfar. It looked like the whole town had turned out as local people lined the streets to get a glimpse of the Queen as she stood and spoke with local people before going for lunch with the towns dignitaries and guests.

From Forfar the Queen was taken to Kerriemuir, a small place on the map, but a big place in the world of literature. This is where Sir James Mathew Barrie was born. The writer of Peter Pan and many other works.

The Queen was welcomed by the local people who were lining the streets, this for them was a big day, and it looked like the whole of Kerriemuir had turned out as the Queen arrived and walked down the street talking with as many local people as she could.

From there the Queen went to the local museum for a visit. On coming out of the museum, some children had gathered outside with bunches of flowers for her. The flowers were accepted with thanks before the Queen got in to her car to leave and return to Edinburgh.
