Charity Events in Edinburgh

Like any other place in the world, Edinburgh has many charitable events.  Each one collecting to better other peoples lives, or to further research so people of all ages can have a better life.

Often giving a little bit of your time to help a charitable cause can be just as rewarding as giving money.  The fun of involvement can be much more than just sticking a coin in a box.

Not everyone has time to give, so they help by giving money which is just as important to charities.

The Scots are often the butt of many jokes when it comes to giving to charity.  But when it comes to giving time and money to charitable causes, they are some of the greatest contributors to charities which will always need everyone's help.

The time or money given can make an important contribution to the much needed services that all charities continue to rely on.

The Great Scottish Walk

The Great Scottish Walk is an annual event that most charities look forward to.  Each year it gets larger with more people talking part to support their own charities.

Many charitable organisations take part knowing that the money that they raise will go to the cause that they support.  This is fun day out for all ages.

During the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, many promoters, performers and venue directors do valuable work for charity.  All giving their time and experience for nothing so that others can benefit through their generosity.

Over the years, shows have been run by Christopher Richardson of the Pleasance Venue so that Waverley Care, an Aids, HIV charity that carries out valuable work for the community can benefit from the artists who give their time for the show free.

This years show was a sell out with no seats left for anyone - even if they wanted to see the show.  Comedian, Ed Byrne who hosted the show was excellent as the host, also appearing at this show were Boothby Graffoe with Pluck, Simon Astiel, Four Poof's and a Piano, and Phil Nichol.

Each artist entertained the full house giving them more than their money's worth and the charity their full support knowing that any money raised was going to a good cause.

Other People working for Charitable Causes

Many people do work for charitable causes, often unrecognised for their valuable work.  Our Members of the Scottish Parliament have put on a number of shows during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as have the many comedians who descend on Edinburgh during the Fringe.  Each and every one making a valuable contribution to charitable causes.
