Many cavalcade and gala’s are held in Scotland at different times of the year.  It was once said “is there a place in this country that doesn’t have gala or event going in it at sometime of the year”.

Edinburgh as the capital city of Scotland also has other cavalcades and gala’s throughout the year.

The main cavalcades like the Edinburgh Festival Cavalcade in August, the Torch-light procession at Hogmanay, and the Easter Parade are only a few of the larger events that this city hosts throughout the year.

The Festival Cavalcade is an event that draws up to 200,000 people on to the streets at the beginning of the festival.  It is a logistical achievement the happens every year, and it always runs according to well laid plans.

The Mela is another event that is still growing in size in Edinburgh and it is one that will hopefully continue for a long time.

Over the years many cavalcades and gala’s have come and gone.  The miners gala and the Old Town gala’s are events of the past.

As working practices have change over the years a lot of these events no longer exist. But as one event goes, another takes its place or still exists.
