Life in the City of Edinburgh

As a living city there are many types of businesses and workers within the central area of the city.  There are shops of all kinds selling all types of products.

As you would expect in a city the size of Edinburgh there many ways that people can entertain themselves.

The city has restaurants, cinemas, pubs and clubs that people can visit.  There is also a night life where musicians play live music in the pubs and clubs.

Shortly after this Old Town Gala, it ended.  It had run for a number of years, and it was like many other events that come and go.  A lot of the events that were involved with the Old Town Gala  still continue and will hopefully continue for a long time yet.

Lord Provost Norman Irons is no longer in office.  Since then we have had Lord Provost Eric Milligan who was in office for eight years, and the Rt Hon Lesley Hinds who is now in office as the Lord Provost of Edinburgh.

You may wonder what a Lord Provost is as it crops up on these pages quite often.  Lord Provost or Provost is probably called a Lord Mayor or Mayor in other places.

Be it new shops opening, races on the street. Hot air balloons flying over the city,  Edinburgh is a city with a life of its own.

Is there a difference between life in the city and city life?  I believe there is.  City life is always changing, whereas life in the city tends to be about tradition.  In city life people come and go.  Be they visitors, students, or part of a fluctuating population.

Changes come and go, streets get repaired, new buildings are built as city life goes through a continuing metamorphosis.
